Dr. S.N. Maurya , O.S.D.
(December 29, 2001 to August 11, 2002) Dr. S.N. Maurya joined this University as the founder officer on special duty on 29.12.2001. Before taking up this assignment, Dr. Maurya was working as Professor and Head, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics in G.B. Pant University of Agricultural and Technology, Pantnagar. Dr. Maurya with an excellent academic carrier of more than 35 years took lot of pains, spent long hours and worked till late in the evening, in giving new directions and planning future strategies for transforming the ideas of establishment of University in to reality. He with few of the dedicated officers/teachers and employees prepared the Xth Five-year plan proposal and the budget even without any Finance officer. He with his staff, meticulously and successfully conducted the First Pre-Veterinary Test (PVT) 2002. Dr. Maurya with his administrative skills and acumen, untiring efforts and personal involvement was able to set the wheels of University in motion and on right track. Dr. Maurya relinquished the charge of O.S.D. on August 11, 2002 and joined back his parent institute. |

Dr. D.P. Singh, O.S.D.
(August 12, 2002 to March 20, 2003) Dr. D.P.Singh, Professor and Head of Microbiology and Former Dean Veterinary College, Mathura took over the reins of University from Dr. S.N.Maurya on 12.08.2003 as second O.S.D. of the University. Dr. Singh’s academic and administrative carreer spanned over almost 35 years. Dr. Singh’s gave further pace to the process of development and carried the University forward on the track set in motion by Dr. Maurya. Dr. Singh relinquished the office O.S.D. on 21.03.2003 after appointment of Dr. Shri Krishna Garg as the First Vice-Chancellor of the University. |

Dr. Shri Krishna Garg, Founder Vice-Chancellor
(March 21, 2003 to March 20, 2006) Dr. Shri Krishna Garg, a native of BrijBhumi, graduated first batch of G. B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar in 1964 took over as the founder Vice-Chancellor of this University on March 21,2003.Dr. Garg had been very successful during his tenure and made significant contributions in developing the University and got the grant of approximately ten croresrupees released from Govt. of U.P. for construction of the Administrative block, College of Biotechnology, College of Animal Business Management, Boys Hostel and Residential Complex. He also got the EFC cleared from State Government for more than 40 croresrupees for establishment of Go-AnusandhanSansthan, College of Fisheries, University Auditorium, Gymnasium Hall, Hostels, University boundary wall and roads etc. He put his best efforts to improve the financial status of the University with the help of I.C.A.R., New Delhi andhe was able to get funds for modernization and mechanization of the agricultural farm, MadhuriKund and D.D.D. Farm Mathura, establishment of ARIS Cell and Local Area Network (LAN), up-gradation of University Library and providing internet facility in all the departments and offices of the University. Establishment of Publication Division, Directorate of Counseling and Placement, two Conference Halls with latest audiovisual aids and excellent sitting facilities and a Hi-tech Lab for training of field vets, taking over the KVK, Mathura from CSAUA & T, Kanpur and modernization of different laboratories are the highlights of his tenure. Full credit for the six monthly publications of University Newsletter and First Progress Report of the University since inception and placement of some students through campus interview, goes to him.Similarly he was instrumental in promoting sports and extracurricular activities amongst students and sent students of different classes on educational tours, inter University youth festivals and sports meet. For the benefit of farmers, he ensured of technology and latest knowledge about agricultural and animal husbandry practices through KisaanMelas, KisaanGoshthis, demonstrations and mobile clinics etc. He readily came forward to implement the ASCAD programme of Government of India for imparting training to field Veterinary officers and extension workers in important areas of concern. |

(March 21, 2006 to October 04, 2006) Dr. Ramji Das Agrawal, Professor and Head, Department of Parasitology has been given the charge of Vice-Chancellor of the University w.e.f. March 21, 2006. Dr. Agrawal is an alumnus of erstwhile UP College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Mathura. After taking over the charge, he has given lot of emphasis on improving the academic environment in the University, particularly punctuality of students in the classes. |

Dr. Moti Lal Madan, Vice-Chancellor
(October 05, 2006 to October 04, 2009) Dr. M. L. Madan, a distinguished Agriculture and Animal scientist, an accomplished research manager and an internationally recognized Biotechnologist. Dr. Madan has attained National and International Professional standing having been the Vice Chancellor of two Universities, PanditDeenDayalUpadhyaya University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mathura and Dr. Punjab Rao Deshmukh Agricultural University, Akola; Deputy Director General (Animal Sciences), ICAR; International consultant; Joint Director Research, NDRI Kamal; Chairman of National Animal Biotechnology task force of GOI, Executive Member of the National Academy Of Agriculture Science, Executive Member Veterinary Council ofIndia and Chairman of its Educational committee and Chairman/Member of evaluation and policy planning committees in National Agriculture Research System/ICAR/DST/ DAHD/Planning Commission and several National committees. DrMadan pioneered embryo transfer in cattle and buffaloes and through ETT produced ten calves from a single elite cow in a year’s time. He also produced World’s First In-vitro fertilized (TEST TUBE-IVF) Buffalo calf and for this innovative technology, he received worldwide scientific acclaim and thereafter, Dr. Madan provided professional consultancies through FAO in the Developing world. As a recognition of his significant achievements and outstanding scientific leadership in Science and Technology, several prestigious National and International awards have been bestowed upon; the major ones include B P Pal Award, (2006), Bhasin Award (2002), Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Award (1992), Hari Om Award (1990), Ogouri Biotechnology Award from Japan (1995), SAPI Honorific Award (2002), Malika Trivedi Award (1997), D. Sundaresan Award (1989), Nirmalan Memorial Award (1994-95), International Science Pioneer Award (1985), AJAS Purina Award (1999), and Rotary Service Excellence Award (2001). Indian Association for Advancement of Veterinary Research (IAAVR) has honored Dr.M.L. Madan with Distinguished Veterinarian Award, ‘DIVA’ for the year 2002. Dr.Madan was vice-chancellor of this university from 5th October, 2006 to 4th October, 2009. Under his dynamic leadership the university received a new height whether it is recruitment of faculty members and other staff, infrastructural development, creation of new facilities for farmers, students and staff. |

Prof. A. P. Singh, Vice-Chancellor
(February 08, 2010 to February 07, 2013) Prof. A. P. Singh a renowned Surgeon, Clinician, Academician and Administrator served this University as Vice Chancellor on 8th of February, 2010. Before joining this University as Vice-chancellor. Prof. Singh has headed the Faculty of Veterinary Science, JNKVV, Jabalpur and College of Veterinary Sciences, CCSHAU, Hisar as Dean where under his dynamic leadership the Colleges attained greater heights. In addition, he has served in various capacities at various institutions viz. Director, Teaching Veterinary Clinical Services Complex, Professor & Head, Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar and Assistant Research Officer, GB Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar. Prof. Singh has completed two international assignments as Professor, Harmaya University, Ethiopia and Associate Professor, College of Veterinary Medicine, Mosul University, Mosul (Iraq). He has been honored with fellowship from various organizations like National Academy of Veterinary Sciences, Indian Society of Veterinary Surgery etc. He is the Executive Secretary of Indian Society of Veterinary Surgery. He has guided four doctoral and six master’s students. To his credit, he has 254 publications including 237 refereed research papers in international, national journals of repute, 03 books, and 14 chapters in books. He has been the Chairman / Member of many Board of Managements, Academic Councils, Management Committee, Research Advisory Committee and Selection Board of SAUs and ASRB, New Delhi. His major achievement was strengthening of Instructional Livestock Farm and TVCC, infrastructural development, addition of student amenities, recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff etc. |

Prof. AC Varshney, Vice-Chancellor
(February 20, 2013 to March 03, 2016) Prof. AC Varshney, renowned Surgeon, Clinician, Academician and Administrator joined this University as Vice Chancellor on 20th of February, 2010. Before joining as Vice-chancellor of DUVASU, Mathura, Prof. Varshney worked as Dean, College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, CAU, Aizawl, Mizoram, and Dean, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, CSKHPKV, Palampur where he significantly contributed in terms of development of infrastructure and fulfillment of staff positions besides bringing number of prestigious research projects and involved the colleges in other developmental activities. Prof. Varshney has a brilliant academic record as a student as well as a teacher and scientist. Sound postgraduate programmes to the level of Ph.D. have been put in to operation in various departments of the Veterinary College, Palampur. He handled 14 national level and 4 state level research projects; and also remained instrumental in bringing research and development projects at College and University level and developed good linkage with ICAR institutions and Universities. More than 13 postgraduate theses and over 160 research articles speak volumes of his contributions to the field of Veterinary Surgery. His major achievement in DUVASU was strengthening of faculty position, infrastructural development, addition of student amenities, liasoning with other institutions etc. |

Prof. K.M.L. Pathak, Vice-Chancellor
(March 03, 2016 to March 02, 2019) Prof. K.M.L. Pathak born in an agricultural family in a village Naraura, District Etah, UP. He completed his scholastic and pre-university studies from Naraura and Meerut and did his B.V.Sc& AH; M.V.Sc; Ph.D with academic excellence from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar. He Obtained Post Doc in Biotechnology from University of Salford, United Kingdom. Prior to his present assignment as Vice Chancellor of this University, he has served as Deputy Director General (Animal Sciences), ICAR (2010-15); Director, National Research Center on Camel, Bikaner(2006-09); Director Research, Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner (2003-06), Professor and Head, Department of Veterinary Parasitology and PG Faculty, Collage of Veterinary Science, Bikaner (1986-2003); Senior Research Fellow, Research Associate, Junior Research Officer and Assistant Professor G.B.P.U.A.&T Pantnagar (1980-86). With optimistic approach and sound administrative skills Dr. Pathak was able to create very positive liaisoning with State Government and ICAR, New Delhi. During his term as Vice Chancellor he managed to get huge grant for construction of long awaited boundary walls and roads in the University from State Government. Moreover he made tremendous endeavor and left no stone unturned for getting the funds in RKVY projects in the University. During his term ‘State-of-art’ facilities of Demonstration unit for silage making, Environment controlled chamber and calorimetric unit, Referral laboratory for quality evaluation of milk and milk products. Semen analytical laboratory for semen certification, quality assurance of breeding buck semen and Modernized goat farm were established under RKVY projects. In addition University also received funds under RKVY for Strengthening of clinical diagnostic and therapeutic facilities at University referral hospital and strengthening and modernization University farms were also carried out. University also received Development Grant from ICAR for construction of the University auditorium, and renovation of Sarojini Nehru, Shastri and Gautam Hostels, Examination halls and automation of library. Because of his consistent perseverance University got teaching posts sanctioned from State Government for establishment Fishery College in the University, is an another feather in his cap of achievements and contribution to the University. With a strong inbuilt humane character and social concern for everybody, he took much of pain for promotion of teaching and non-teaching staff of the University. Because of his determination and concern for his staff, more than 46 faculty members promoted to higher scale under Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) during his tenure. The University owes its generous thanks and deep gratitude to Dr. Pathak for his great contribution to the University. |

Prof. G.K. Singh, Vice-Chancellor
(March 02, 2019 to June 03, 2022) Born on 7th January 1955 in a village of Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, Dr. G.K. Singh obtained his primary and middle level education from the school near his native place. After obtaining BSc (Bio) degree from Allahabad university in 1974, he was admitted to G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar and obtained his BVSc & AH, MVSc (Vety. Path.), PhD (Vety. Path.) and PhD (Anatomy) degrees in the year 1978, 1980, 1986 and 1993 respectively. Based on his scholastic excellence, he has been recipient of Bursary, Merit and Narendra Mohan Scholarships during the course of BVSc. & AH degree programme and was awarded Vice-Chancellor’s Silver Medal for being the second best graduating student of the Faculty of the Veterinary Sciences for the year 1977-78. Dr. Singh joined the Govind Ballabh Pant University as Assistant Professor (Vety. Anatomy) in 1981 and was elevated to the post of Associate Professor in 1987 and Professor in 1997. He was appointed as Head, Veterinary Anatomy in 1998. Dr. Singh has been the most favored and popular teacher among his students which won him the Best Teacher Award in 2000-2001 when it was introduced for the first time in the College. Dr. Singh has been a prolific researcher and has handled 8 research projects. His main research areas include pneumoenteritis, fowl pox, lymph system and developmental immunology. He has so far published 12 books, manuals and bulletins, 4 review articles, 70 research papers and 10 semi technical articles and has guided 9 PG & PhD students as Chairman, Advisory Committee. Dr. Singh has very successfully carried out the administrative responsibilities as Director, Training and Placement (2003-2006), Director, Administration & Monitoring (2007-08) and Dean, College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (2008-2019). He took over the Charge of this University as Vice-Chancellor on 2nd March, 2019 In recognition of his scholastic achievements Dr. Singh has been bestowed upon with several awards and honours. He is Fellow of National Academy of Veterinary Sciences (India), Indian Association of Veterinary Anatomist and Society for Immunology and Immunopathology. Besides Life Achievement Award and Veterinary Anatomist of the Year (2010) Award of IAVA several Best Paper and Best Poster Awards are also to his credit. He is member of India Literacy Board, Uttarakhand Livestock Development Board, Uttarakhand Pashu Kalyan Board, IMC, NRCE (Hisar) & PD FMD (Mukteshwar), Academic Council, IVRI and life member of Dr. C.M. Singh Trust and various other professional societies. He also holds the post of Vice-President of Indian Association of Veterinary Anatomists and Society for Immunology and Immunopathology. Dr. Singh has been instrumental in creation of Veterinary Alumni Society of Pantnagar and served the Society as its founder General Secretary. |

Prof. A.K. Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor
(June 04, 2022 to March 10, 2025) Prof. (Dr.) A.K. Srivastava, a distinguished Veterinary and Animal Scientist, has joined as Vice-Chancellor, DUVASU, Mathura on 4th June 2022. Prof. Srivastava is alumni of this College, did his graduation and post-graduation in Veterinary Pharmacology from College of Veterinary Science, Mathura. He obtained Ph.D. from Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana and Post Doctorate Fellowship from Institute of Toxicology, Munchen, Germany. Besides, Prof. (Dr.) Srivastava has also been honoured with Degrees of Doctor of Science (D.Sc. Honoris Causa) from DUVASU, Mathura and NDVSU, Jabalpur. Before joining DUVASU, Mathura he was Chairman, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB), DARE, Ministry of Agriculture, GoI, New Delhi. Earlier he also served as Member (Animal Sciences), ASRB; Director and Vice Chancellor, ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal; Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry and Director Resident Instructions & Dean PGS at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology (SKUAST-J), Jammu; Head of the Department of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology and Controller of Examinations at PAU, Ludhiana. Presently, Prof. Srivastava is President of National Academy of Dairy Science (India) and Patron of Indian Dairy Association. He is President of Association of Mastitis and President of Probiotic Association of India. Earlier Prof. Srivastava was Vice President and also Secretary of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS). He was also President of Indian Society of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, Chairman Indian Dairy Association, Member of International Dairy Federation and Chairman, FAD 19, Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS), Govt. of India. Dr. Srivastava is Founder Authority Member of “Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI)”. Prof. Srivastava is a distinguished Member of National Academy of Sciences. He is fellow of all three academies i.e., National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, National Academy of Dairy Sciences and National Academy of Veterinary Sciences. He is also fellow of Punjab Academy of Sciences and fellow of Uttar Pradesh Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He is also fellow of 10 other National Scientific Societies of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. He is Chairman R&D Committee of Ministry of Food Processing Industries GoI; Member, Board of Governing Council of “Agriculture Skill Council of India”, Ministry of Skill Development GoI; and Member Advisory Committee of Indian Institute of Packaging, Ministry of Commerce and Industries, GoI. He is Member, Board of Trust for “Advancement of Agricultural Sciences”. Earlier Prof. Srivastava has also served as Secretary, Vice President and President of Indian Agricultural Universities Vice Chancellors Association, Chairman DBT Task Force on “Biotechnological Approaches for Food and Nutritional Security, and also of Task Force on “Animal Biotechnology”. He has also served as Member Governing Board of National Institute of Animal Biotechnology, DBT Govt. of India; He has been decorated with numerous prestigious awards and honours including some most important, ICAR Jawaharlal Nehru Award, International NOCIL Award, National Alarsin Awards in 1987-88 and in 1999-2000, ASET Gold Medal, German Academic Exchange Award, Gold Medals of Indian Science Congress Association, National Education Award 2016 and many more. He has been conferred the “Life Time Achievement Award” by the Indian Society for the Study of Reproduction and Fertility, Society for Community Mobilization for Sustainable Development and Indian Society of Buffalo Development. He is recipient of Dr. B.D. Garg outstanding Pharmacologist Award, Dr. V. Kurien Memorial Award, Chellappa Memorial Oration Award, Mansinhbhai Memorial Oration Award, Dr. Sunderasan Memorial Award, Prof. S.C. Mandal Memorial Oration Award, Dr. Rao Memorial Oration Award and Prof. S. Kannaiyan Memorial Award by National Academy of Biological Sciences. Prof. Srivastava was also Chairman of working group of Planning Commission on “Animal Husbandry and Dairying” for XIIth Five Year Plan and Chairman for Mid Term Evaluation of XIth Five Year Plan. He led the DST-India delegation to New Zealand. He also represented India and was Chairman/Member of Indian scientific delegation to Kansas University, USA, Belgium, Dubai, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Nairobi, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Bangkok, Michigan State University, USA and many more countries. He has more than 250 research papers 10 books and 12 “National Policy Papers” in his credit and has guided more than 25 PhD and post graduate students. |
