Introduction
INSTITUTE OF PARA VETERINARY SCIENCE
U.P Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Evam Go Anusandhan, Mathura take prides being pioneer in the initiation of Diploma Programmes. This Diploma Programme was started with the financial support of Government under “Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana”. In view of requirement of trained human resources who will be able to render primary veterinary services under the guidance of veterinarians, DUVASU establish the Institute of Para Veterinary Science.
The institute offers the following two academic programmes-
Diploma in Veterinary Pharmacy
Course duration is 2 years with an internship of 3 months. The programme is intended primarily who wish to be pharmacist in animal health industry. This course involves elementary knowledge of management, physiology and nutrition of livestock and poultry, animal health and their ailments, clinical diagnostic methods and samples collection, compounding and dispensing of various pharmaceutical preparations, preliminary surgical procedures, artificial insemination and public health care services including zoonosis.
Diploma in Livestock Extension
Course duration is 2 years. This programme involves basic knowledge of animal nutrition and livestock production and management, livestock products and its processing, importance of different feed and fodder in livestock, animal husbandary extension and rural welfare, diseases of livestock and poultry, collection of samples and their laboratory diagnosis, compounding and dispensing of pharmacy preparation, elementary knowledge of surgical procedures, techniques like artificial insemination and handling of semen.
