The College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, DUVASU Mathura, proudly celebrates the remarkable achievement of Yashovardhan Misra, an internship student who represented India at the prestigious FAO Global Regional Forum on Sustainable Livestock Transformation held in Khon Kaen, Thailand. As the only representative from India, Yashovardhan stood out among 461 global applicants, being selected as one of just 10 exceptional Youth Champions.
At the forum, Yashovardhan made significant contributions, participating in two high-level panel discussions. One focused on feed, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and sustainable practices, where he shared India’s strategies and approaches. The other was centered on the dairy sector and its development, chaired by Dr. Meenesh Shah, Chairman of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). His active involvement in these discussions reflected his deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the livestock sector, as well as his passion for driving change.
Yashovardhan also delivered a comprehensive country presentation, showcasing India’s progress in sustainable livestock practices while addressing global challenges like AMR, climate resilience, and inclusive development. His presentation was met with admiration from both national and international delegates. Demonstrating exceptional leadership, he concluded the event by delivering the closing remarks on behalf of all Youth Champions, emphasizing the critical role of young leaders in shaping a sustainable and inclusive future for the livestock sector.
The forum brought together high-ranking delegates, including Dr. Thanawat Tiensin, Assistant Director-General for Animal Health at FAO, Dr. Meenesh Shah, Dr. Abhijit Mitra, Animal Husbandry Commissioner, and several FAO, ECTAD, and APHCA officials, alongside representatives from private organizations. Over three days, discussions revolved around vital themes such as animal nutrition, climate-smart livestock, antimicrobial resistance, gender and youth engagement, biosecurity, data standardization, and food security.
Yashovardhan’s presence and contributions at such a prestigious global platform underscore the excellence of students at DUVASU Mathura and highlight India’s growing role in advancing sustainable livestock systems. His achievement inspires the entire academic community and strengthens the institution’s vision of producing leaders who can drive transformative change in the global livestock sector.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Dr. A.K. Srivastava, and the Dean of DUVASU, Prof. Dr. Vikas Pathak, congratulated him on this remarkable accomplishment.
